The company supports firms across family-based and humanitarian filings, employment-based immigration, removal defense and EOIR matters, as well as client intake, case management, and form preparation. Services also include declarations, translations, and filing coordination to help firms operate efficiently and scale responsibly. Based in New Orleans, LA, O.L.A. Immigration offers remote support to firms while emphasizing strong culture, communication, and legal precision.
Role Description The Immigration Legal Assistant role is a contract position. The legal assistant will support U.S. immigration attorneys by managing client intake, maintaining case files, and preparing immigration forms and supporting documents. Day-to-day tasks include drafting declarations, organizing evidence, coordinating translations and filings, and communicating with clients and law firm staff in a professional and empathetic manner. The role also involves scheduling, tracking case deadlines, updating case management systems, and ensuring that all documentation complies with U.S. immigration procedures. The assistant will collaborate closely with supervising attorneys to deliver precise, timely work while maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards.QualificationsFoundational knowledge of Law and U.S. immigration procedures, with experience or training as a Legal Assistant.Strong Legal Document Preparation skills, including drafting forms, declarations, and supporting documentation.Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact clearly and respectfully with clients and legal teams, including in bilingual contexts where applicable.Proficient Administrative Assistance skills, such as scheduling, data entry, case file organization, and use of case management software.Demonstrated ability to work accurately under deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and follow detailed instructions.Fluency in English; fluency in Spanish or another language commonly used in immigration matters is highly beneficial.Prior experience in immigration law support or legal services is preferred.
