CAD Designer

Freese and Nichols is seeking a CAD Designer to support our Transmission and Utilities team in Frisco, Texas. As a CAD Designer, you will support the design of linear utilities, pump stations, and treatment plants for water and wastewater infrastructure projects while collaborating with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

What You’ll Do

Understand project requirements, scope, and deliverables to support design decisionsProvide conceptual input during project planning and identify opportunities for quality improvementsPrepare detailed drawings and layouts using BIM/CAD tools and engineering principlesPerform design tasks requiring fundamental engineering concepts with minimal directionCoordinate with design teams, stakeholders, and other disciplines to ensure seamless executionPerform BIM/CAD quality control to ensure deliverables meet professional standardsApply company CAD standards, maintain drawing files, and support best practicesServe as a liaison between CAD Managers and users to support standards and new technologies

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent8+ years of experience in engineering design and technical support utilizing BIM/CAD softwareAdvanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, pressure pipe networks, gravity pipe networks, surfaces, and data managementAbility to learn, adapt, and problem solve to produce accurate, high-quality deliverablesAbility to collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel

Preferred

Associate degree in BIM/CAD or Design/Drafting Technology10+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D, including pipeline designExperience translating design/data files across platforms such as GIS shapefiles, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation
