A confidential Texas litigation practice is seeking an experienced civil litigation attorney to manage a docket centered on real estate, business, and construction disputes. This is a litigation-forward role for an attorney who enjoys hands-on case work, direct client communication, and an hourly billing model supported by upfront retainers.

THE ROLE
- Manage civil litigation matters involving real estate, construction, and business disputes (primarily defense-side)- Draft pleadings, substantive motions, and briefs, including dispositive motion practice- Develop and execute discovery strategy, including written discovery, document review, and depositions - Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, and trial preparation- Advise clients on strategy, risk, and practical resolution options, with clear and consistent communication- Record time and support billing in an hourly, retainer-funded practice
LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Location: Houston area, Texas Schedule: On-site (limited hybrid flexibility by exception)
Compensation: Base salary: up to $200,000 (experience dependent), plus bonus potential
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of civil litigation experience, with relevant exposure to real estate, business, and/or construction disputes- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school- Active Texas bar admission in good standing- Strong legal writing and advocacy skills, including motion practice- Comfort working in an hourly billing model with upfront retainers- Ability to work on-site in the Houston area PREFERRED BACKGROUND- Experience taking matters through discovery, depositions, and dispositive motions- Background aligned with an hourly, retainer-based disputes practice COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS- Standard benefits package - Daily billable target of 6 hours (goal-based)
