Our client, a highly respected and growing Washington, DC-based real estate developer, is seeking a Development Manager to join the organization as a result of continued project growth and a strong development pipeline. The ideal candidate will be based in the Washington, DC area and possess 3–6 years of development experience with a real estate developer, ideally focused on multifamily or affordable housing projects. Core Responsibilities:
Under the leadership of a Senior Leader, you will be involved in projects at various stages and responsibilities, including:
Lifecycle development of multifamily and affordable housing projects from site acquisition through entitlement, design and construction, lease-up, and stabilization.Coordinate and manage due diligence activities, including land use approvals, environmental assessments, utility investigations, and feasibility studies.Oversee project budgets, development proformas, and financial models to ensure projects meet investment objectives, underwriting assumptions, and return targets.Work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, attorneys, and public agencies to advance project design, permitting, and entitlement processes.Manage the procurement and selection of general contractors, consultants, and vendors while negotiating contracts and monitoring project performance.Collaborate and manage construction teams throughout preconstruction and construction phases, ensuring delivery on schedule, budget, quality and safety.Identify, secure, and administer financing sources, tax-exempt bonds, public incentives, grants, and local housing programs.Cultivate relationships with municipalities, housing authorities, community stakeholders, neighborhood organizations, and regulatory agencies throughout the Washington, DC area.Prepare and present project updates, financial analyses, development status reports, and investment recommendations to leadership, investors, lenders, and project partners.Monitor local market conditions, housing policies, and affordable housing initiatives across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia to identify new development opportunities and support strategic growth initiatives.
What you will need to succeed:
3-6 years of experience of industry experience as a Development Manager.Experience in the Multifamily, Affordable Housing, Townhome, or the Custom Home market sector.Experienced in working on Washington DC based development deals and construction projects.Strong skills in development/project management ranging from project financing, entitlement, zoning and permitting and construction management.Ability to get ‘hands on’ in a Development Manager position, this is a small but growing team and the need to multi-task is required.A Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction, Engineering, Architecture or Finance.Must live in DC and have Development and Construction experience in DC. Candidates outside of the DMV area will not been considered for this position.
Compensation and Benefits:
