The organization is committed to maintaining an inclusive, respectful workplace where contributions from all employees are valued.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Toolmaker / CNC role based in Rochester, NY. The Toolmaker / CNC team member will set up, program, and operate CNC machines and conventional equipment to produce precision tools, fixtures, and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing machining operations, and verifying dimensions using measurement instruments. The role involves troubleshooting machining issues, making adjustments to programs or setups, and ensuring that parts meet quality and safety standards. The Toolmaker / CNC professional will collaborate with engineering and production staff, maintain equipment, and contribute to process improvements and efficient workflow on the shop floor.Qualifications Demonstrated experience with CNC setup, operation, and basic programming for milling, turning, or grinding equipment.Strong toolmaking skills, including the ability to build, modify, and repair jigs, fixtures, and precision tooling.Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators to verify part accuracy.Solid understanding of machining processes, materials, feeds and speeds, and cutting tool selection.Knowledge of shop safety practices, equipment maintenance, and quality control procedures in a manufacturing environment.Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and correct machining and dimensional issues.Capability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist or toolmaker apprenticeship, trade school, or related technical training is preferred.Prior experience in a precision machining or manufacturing setting is strongly beneficial.
