Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Asset Accountant to support the accounting team by managing the organization's fixed asset records and ensuring accurate accounting for capital expenditures, depreciation, disposals, and asset tracking. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of accounting experience and a strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
Responsibilities
Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring asset records are accurate and complete.Record asset acquisitions, transfers, retirements, and disposals in accordance with company policies.Monitor capital expenditure projects and ensure proper capitalization of assets.Calculate and record monthly depreciation and amortization entries.Review and classify expenditures between capital and operating expenses.Prepare monthly journal entries related to fixed assets and depreciation.Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to fixed asset balances.Support account reconciliations and financial reporting requirements.Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and schedules.Prepare fixed asset reports, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure analyses.Support inventory counts and physical verification of company assets when required.Identify opportunities to improve fixed asset accounting processes and controls.Maintain organized records and documentation for all fixed asset transactions.Collaborate with finance, operations, and procurement teams to ensure accurate asset tracking.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of accounting experience.Understanding of fixed asset accounting and general accounting principles.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting software.Experience with depreciation schedules and fixed asset management software.Knowledge of GAAP and fixed asset accounting best practices.
