Adjunct Faculty Chemistry

About the role

Cuyahoga Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach a full range of chemistry courses for majors and non-majors. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. This is a part-time faculty position. Classes may be offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Work schedule will be determined based on business unit needs; please indicate your availability when applying.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver learning activities to achieve course outcomes.
• Prepare course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Evaluate and grade students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
• Maintain and submit student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
• Be available to students for coaching.
• Attend periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College related to teaching duties and training and development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, or a master’s degree or higher in a related field with 18 graduate-level course hours in Chemistry.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.
• Advanced verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to appropriately respond to the needs of the community.
• Preferred: PhD in Chemistry and teaching experience.
