About the Role
Vikara.ai is seeking an experienced AI Engineer specializing in agentic systems to join our innovative team in California City, California. This full-time role focuses on designing, building, and deploying advanced AI agents including task orchestration, workflow automation, retrieval-augmented, research/coding, multimodal, and domain-specific autonomous agents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build & Deploy AI Agents
- Design, develop, and ship agentic workflows across diverse domains such as conversational agents (voice, text), reasoning agents, scheduling, analytics, and automation bots.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI agents: data ingestion, reasoning, action execution, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Create multi-step autonomous agents with capabilities like planning, context tracking, memory, tool integration, and API orchestration.
2. Agent Architecture & Infrastructure
- Architect scalable systems using modern agent frameworks including LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI Assistants, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and custom orchestration solutions.
- Develop robust retrieval pipelines (RAG), vector embeddings, caching mechanisms, and knowledge-grounding infrastructures.
- Integrate AI agents with external APIs, SaaS platforms, CRMs, internal services, databases, and messaging systems.
3. Productionization
- Deploy AI agents as microservices with observability, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, fallbacks, and continuous monitoring.
- Optimize inference costs, latency, accuracy, and task completion rates to ensure high-performance production systems.
- Operate effectively in fast-paced environments, shipping rapid MVPs and evolving them into stable production-ready solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience building and deploying at least two AI agents in production within the last 12 months.
- Strong full-stack AI engineering skills with a passion for rapid development and high ownership.
- Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, and autonomous system design.
- Ability to work remotely and collaborate across distributed teams.
