AI/ML Engineer — AI Research & LLM Implementation Alex Makarov is seeking a skilled AI/ML Developer based in Moscow, Russia, with remote work eligibility. This role combines advanced AI research with hands-on implementation of AI products. Ideal candidates will have deep expertise in modern AI systems, including experimentation with models and techniques, alongside building practical applications using large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, LangChain, OpenRouter, vector databases, and backend APIs. Key Responsibilities Research, test, and evaluate state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques, LLM architectures, prompting strategies, and retrieval methods. Develop AI-powered applications leveraging RAG, LangChain, OpenRouter, embeddings, vector search, and LLM APIs. Design and implement document-based question-answering systems, chatbots, AI agents, automation tools, and knowledge retrieval systems. Collaborate with multiple LLM providers and APIs such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, Google, Hugging Face, and open-source models. Build and optimize RAG pipelines including document parsing, chunking, embedding generation, vector storage, retrieval, reranking, and response generation. Experiment with prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, tool integration, agent workflows, and multi-step reasoning systems. Develop backend services and APIs using Python frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or Flask. Evaluate model outputs focusing on accuracy, hallucination reduction, latency, cost, and reliability. Work with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, FAISS, Qdrant, or pgvector. Continuously improve AI system performance through enhanced retrieval logic, prompt design, model selection, caching, and evaluation workflows.
