Job description
We are seeking an experienced Android Architect for a contract role in Austin, Texas. Lead the architecture and development of scalable, high-performance Android applications, helping align technical decisions with business objectives and deliver an excellent user experience. You’ll collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product managers on impactful projects for core products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design Android applications using Kotlin and Java, with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and technical requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs that support application integration and functionality.
- Promote code quality and best practices through code reviews and quality assurance processes.
- Lead troubleshooting and debugging to identify issues and improve application performance.
- Monitor Android development trends and evaluate relevant tools and technologies.
- Mentor junior developers and guide the team on architectural best practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in mobile application development.
- Strong Android development experience with Kotlin and Java.
- Demonstrated expertise in API design.
- Experience leading architecture discussions and technical decisions.
- A Google Associate Android Developer certification or similar industry certification is a plus.
Technical Environment
Work with modern development tools and frameworks in an agile team of developers, QA engineers, and product managers. You will report to the Head of Technology, aligning architectural decisions with technical leadership and business needs.
