Hospitality Assistant

Position SummaryThis is a full-time positionThe Hospitality Assistant is responsible for ensuring a welcoming, organized, and positive experience for One World Surgery volunteers in the Dominican Republic during their stay and participation in medical missions. This position serves as the main point of contact for visitors, providing guidance, accompaniment and logistical support, as well as coordinating activities related to accommodation, transportation, food and events. It also works closely with different teams to ensure the safety, comfort and satisfaction of volunteers, promoting the values and mission of the organization at all times. The position requires a high service orientation, excellent communication skills, adaptability, and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overnight stays during missions.
Main responsibilities: Receive and accompany volunteers during their experience, creating a warm and positive environmentProvide orientation, OWS and NPH on-site tours, and basic presentationsAttend to requests and solve daily needsSupport the coordination of logistics (rooms, meals, agendas)Support the daily operation of Hospitality, including food service, receipt of supplies, basic coordination with suppliers. Maintain constant communication with the team and visitorsSupport activities and events during missions (e.g. tours, orientations, airport pick-up and drop-off, accompaniment in community activities, etc.)Collaborate with the team to ensure volunteer safety and solve problemsCollaborate with the team to identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement Work effectively across divisions with all teammates Support in the process of purchasing food suppliesSupport the inventory, sourcing and purchasing management of the hospitality area.
Time commitment: The position will be full-time. During visitor weeks (average of two weeks per month), the Hospitality Assistant will work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays alternately and will stay overnight at the OWS Visitor Center.

Schooling and requirements: It is required to have one of the following academic backgrounds: Tourism and Hospitality, Business Administration or related careers.Minimum 1-year experience in customer service, hospitality, visitor coordination, volunteering, guest service, or similar positions.Management of digital tools and communication platforms; intermediate level (email, Microsoft Teams, calendars, and databases).Intermediate level of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Teams).Ability to coordinate agendas, visits, transportation, and volunteer activitiesAdvanced level of English }Valid driver's license (desirable)Availability to mobilize and accompany volunteers during on- and off-site visits as required.Personal qualities:Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to work in dynamic environments with frequent changes in priorities, routes, and activities.Effective communication and cordial treatment with volunteers, patients, medical and administrative staff.Ability to resolve unforeseen situations calmly, empathetically, and service-orientedAbility to organize and coordinate multiple activities and visits simultaneously.Cultural sensitivity and ease of relating to people of different nationalities and backgrounds.Service orientation and commitment to vulnerable populations and to the organization's community health mission.Responsible handling of personal and confidential information of volunteers and beneficiaries.Communicates, interprets, and promotes the goals and values of One World Surgery: Spirit of Service, Responsibility, Compassion, Excellence, Educational Community.Professional presentation and ability to positively represent the organization to visitors and allies.Benefits: One World Surgery is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides equal employment opportunities.
