Role Description The Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Costa Rica, supporting the daily operations of Vascumed Medical Care and Wound Clinic. Responsibilities include welcoming patients, assisting with check-in and scheduling, maintaining accurate patient records, and coordinating appointments and follow-up visits. The Assistant helps prepare examination rooms, supports clinicians with non-clinical tasks during patient visits, and ensures that supplies and materials are organized and readily available. The role also involves handling phone calls and messages, providing information to patients in a clear and respectful manner, and collaborating with the clinical and administrative team to maintain smooth clinic workflows. The Assistant is expected to adhere to clinic protocols, protect patient confidentiality, and contribute to a safe, clean, and professional environment.
Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare, clinic, or medical office setting, with familiarity in basic patient support and administrative procedures.Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach and the ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Comfort with using computers and clinic software for scheduling, data entry, and documentation; proficiency with common office applications is beneficial.Attention to detail and reliability in following protocols related to patient confidentiality, safety, and infection control.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, take direction from clinical staff, and adapt to changing priorities in a busy clinic environment.High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in medical assisting, nursing assistance, or healthcare administration is an advantage.Proficiency in Spanish; basic or better English language skills are desirable for communication and documentation.
