Job description
About the role
Nydp invites volunteers to join the NYPD Auxiliary Police and support their community.
Responsibilities
- Support the community.
- Assist at special events.
- Aid in traffic and crowd control.
- Work alongside NYPD officers.
Requirements
- Be at least 17 years of age and in good health.
- Have good moral character and pass a background investigation.
- Comply with the NYPD zero tolerance drug policy.
- Speak, read and write English.
- Be a U.S. citizen or lawfully permanent resident authorized to work in the U.S.
- Possess a valid NY State Driver License or NY State ID Card.
Benefits
- This is a volunteer program with no regular monthly pay.
- After successfully completing training, eligible members may receive a stipend for uniforms and associated equipment maintenance. The initial stipend maximum is 250 dollars; additional stipends depend on participation, duties performed and other applicable conditions.
- Workers’ Compensation may apply during authorized duty conditions. Members do not receive regular NYPD pension or other employment benefits.
