Bilingual Preschool Teaching Assistant
Instituto Dr. Jaim Weizman is seeking a caring, proactive, and responsible Bilingual Preschool Teaching Assistant to support our preschool teaching team and contribute to a safe, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
We are a private educational institution located in San José, Costa Rica, offering Preschool, Primary, and Secondary education within the International Baccalaureate framework.
Key Responsibilities
Support the lead teacher in daily classroom activities and learning experiences.Communicate effectively with students and staff in both English and Spanish.Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, routines, and transitions.Supervise students at all times and promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.Support students with their personal care needs, including diaper changes when required.Encourage participation, independence, positive behavior, and respectful relationships.Assist during recess, meals, arrival, dismissal, and school activities.Provide classroom coverage when requested by the Preschool Coordinator or School Leadership.Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to meet the educational objectives of the school.Demonstrate the attributes of the International Baccalaureate learner profile through daily actions.Perform other responsibilities related to the position.
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing or holding studies in:Preschool EducationPrimary EducationEnglish Language TeachingFull professional proficiency in English and Spanish.Ability to communicate naturally and confidently with young children in both languages.Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills.Responsible, patient, attentive, and caring approach to working with children.Basic proficiency in digital tools and educational technology.Availability to work on-site in San José, Costa Rica.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of experience working with preschool-aged children.Knowledge of constructivist or inquiry-based teaching approaches.Previous experience in a bilingual or International Baccalaureate school environment.
Employment Details
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Starting date: August 10, 2026.Employment type: Permanent, indefinite-term contract.Work modality: On-site.Location: Mata Redonda, San José, Costa Rica.
