Job description
About the role
At Ardagh Group, the Chemical Process Operator performs chemical process tests to maintain the chemical balance and material mixtures needed for equipment operation. The role also involves following safety-related SOPs for chemical handling.
Responsibilities
- Operate and control systems, adjusting wastewater solutions, oils, and materials.
- Follow position-related safety procedures, SOPs, and work instructions, including those for Lockout Tagout, wastewater treatment chemical handling, machine guarding, housekeeping, SQF, and personal protective equipment.
- Perform chemical process tests and sample solutions at prescribed intervals to check chemical balance and waste content.
- Mix and maintain solutions for process washers, deionizers, coolant systems, water treatment, and soluble oil filtration systems.
- Store chemicals and compounds; prepare chemical wash solutions and soluble oil mixtures according to prescribed percentages.
- Set up, adjust, and maintain washer and wastewater equipment, including changing filters and cleaning filter screens.
- Install, maintain, repair, and assist with overhauls of pumps, piping, plumbing, and support equipment.
- Monitor, maintain, and report the Hazardous Waste Program as required.
- Unload and store barrel totes and bulk deliveries of materials such as oil and chemicals, deliver materials to ready-for-use locations, and maintain inventory records of supplies used in the process.
- Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment against quality specifications using appropriate gauges and instruments, and record relevant information, including the date.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections of assigned equipment, report findings, and take appropriate corrective action.
