Company Description
Protabaco distributes industrial spare parts for tobacco machinery. We serve clients across the Dominican Republic and internationally, and we work with local suppliers as well as manufacturers in Europe and North America, covering the main machinery brands in the sector. We are formalizing and expanding our Commercial Operations department.
Role Description
This is a new position, created because the department is growing and we need someone to coordinate it.
You will own the full quotation cycle: a client requests a price, you identify the part, verify it against inventory and catalogs, determine how to obtain the correct price, locate the right supplier based on the machine brand, prepare the complete package for authorization, send the quote, and follow it through to close. Everything gets recorded and kept current in Dynamics 365.
You will learn the flow working alongside the team that runs it today. Over time, you will run it yourself.
This is not a field sales role, and it is not traditional customer service.
What We Need
Real English. Not a certificate — the ability to understand a commercial email without a translator, including what a client implies and does not say outright; to write with professional clarity; and to pick up the phone and call a client or supplier in English when email is not working. Your English is assessed in conversation during the process.
Accuracy. We handle prices and part numbers manually. One mistyped digit reaches the client. We are looking for someone who verifies before sending, every time, without being asked.
Self-directed follow-up. Suppliers do not always reply and clients do not wait. We need someone who chases every open case to closure on their own initiative.
Record discipline. Dynamics 365 only works if it is updated every day, including the busy ones.
Requirements
- Advanced English: comprehension, writing, and conversation- 1 to 3 years in commercial operations, inside sales, purchasing, order management, B2B support, or operations coordination- Excellent written Spanish- Outlook, and intermediate Excel (filters, lookups, price lists, inventories)- Based in Santiago de los Caballeros or nearby- Full availability for on-site work
Nice to Have
- Dynamics 365 or any other CRM- International trade, importing, or logistics experience- Experience serving clients in Europe or North America
What You Do Not Need
Experience in the tobacco industry, in industrial spare parts, or in Dynamics. We teach the brands, the suppliers, the catalogs, and the system. What we cannot teach is follow-up, accuracy, and reliability.
Schedule and Compensation
- Monday to Thursday 7:20 AM – 5:20 PM, Friday 7:20 AM – 4:20 PM, one hour lunch- RD$50,000.00 per month to start- RD$55,000.00 after passing the 90-day probation period- Performance bonus of RD$3,000.00 – RD$5,000.00 monthly from month four- All legally mandated benefits- Defined path to Supervisor of Commercial Operations as the department grows
How You Will Learn the Role
You will not be left on your own. Operations and Accounting run this flow today, and you will learn working alongside them full-time. Formal reviews at 30, 60, and 90 days so you always know where you stand.
Selection Process
