Contador General - Santiago, Dominican Republic

Job Summary

Altron International is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Contador General to lead our accounting department in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The ideal candidate will be proactive, results-driven, and possess deep knowledge of Dominican tax and accounting regulations. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records, leading the accounting team, and ensuring full compliance with all tax obligations.

Main Responsibilities

• Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and train accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Accounting Management: Oversee the full accounting cycle including transaction recording, account reconciliations, and monthly and annual closings.
• Tax Management: Prepare and file all tax declarations (ITBIS, ISR, IR-3, IR-17, etc.) with the Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII), ensuring compliance with all fiscal obligations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) to support managerial decision-making.
• Analysis and Control: Analyze financial results, identify variances, and propose improvements to accounting processes.
• Audit and Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure all accounting procedures comply with current regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.

Requirements and Skills

• University degree in Accounting. Postgraduate studies in Finance, Tax Accounting, or related fields are an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in accounting and tax management.
• Strong knowledge of Dominican Republic tax laws and accounting standards.
• Leadership skills and experience managing accounting teams.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
