Job description
About the role
Confidential is seeking a Controller reporting to the Director of Finance. The role directs accounting operations and supports evaluation of financial performance against the strategic plan, budget and forecast.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct and coordinate the organization’s accounting operations.
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial data to support accurate accounting of business activity at organizational, combined and consolidated levels.
- Provide financial information timely and efficiently to help evaluate performance against the strategic plan, budget and forecast.
- Manage the accounting team, foster communication across departmental functions, and provide mentorship and leadership to support individual and departmental goals.
- Manage the financial statement audit and serve as a key liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure adherence to US GAAP, tax regulations and reporting, and legal standards.
- Understand new accounting standards and their relationship to financial reporting, and provide guidance and support for implementing changes.
- Assist with reviewing the shared services model, cost allocation methodology, functional expense reporting on organizational financial statements and tax returns, and agreements between affiliated entities.
- Work with Development and the Senior Director, Controller – Donor Receipts and Pledges, to guide the recordation of donor transactions for annual campaign and endowment gifts.
- Improve quarterly donor reporting and endowment distribution practices.
- Manage and assist with the Regulatory... responsibilities.
