Corporate IT Lead

About the RoleSmartwyre is looking for a Corporate IT Lead to own corporate IT operations, security, compliance, systems, and employee technology experience in a fully remote, international environment.This is a senior, autonomous individual contributor role, responsible for driving IT operations and improvements, managing external MSPs and vendors, and ensuring secure, efficient, and well-governed technology across the organization.

What You'll DoOwn corporate IT operations and the employee technology experience, including onboarding, offboarding, hardware, access, and endpoints.Manage Windows and macOS environments and oversee MSPs, contractors, and IT vendors.Drive IT strategy, systems governance, SaaS management, integrations, and technology improvements.Own Identity & Access Management, including Entra ID, SSO, MFA, and privileged access.Lead the SOC 2 compliance program, including audits, controls, evidence, and remediation.Oversee corporate IT security, third-party technology risk, and security incidents.Establish effective information management and governance practices.Govern the use of AI tools and technologies, including security, data handling, and adoption.
What We're Looking For5+ years of IT experience, including direct ownership of IT operations in a lean environment.End-to-end SOC 2 ownership: Proven experience being accountable for a SOC 2 program, including direct auditor coordination, audit management, evidence collection, control operation, and remediation. Experience limited to audit support or evidence collection is not sufficient.Strong working knowledge of Identity & Access Management, including Entra ID, SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management.Experience with Microsoft 365 and SaaS governance, including application inventory, access controls, license management, and cost optimization.Experience managing Windows and macOS endpoints, including security configurations, MDM, patching, and lifecycle management.Proven MSP and vendor management experience, including delegating operational execution, defining service expectations, monitoring performance, and maintaining accountability for outcomes.Ability to understand systems, integrations, data flows, and technology dependencies.Strong documentation, communication, and decision-making skills.Proven ability to operate as a solo senior IT owner, independently identifying problems, proposing solutions, and driving implementation without managing an internal IT team.Sound judgment when balancing security, usability, cost, and business needs.
Nice to HaveExperience as the primary IT owner in a small or midsize company, or as a senior contributor in an IT organization supporting approximately 100–500 employees.Experience supporting international or remote teams.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a comparable CRM platform.Experience with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, APIs, scripting, or workflow automation.
Important Role FitThis position is best suited for a strategic, hands-on IT owner who has personally owned compliance outcomes and knows how to scale operations through MSPs and external vendors.Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to audit support, tactical implementation within a highly structured enterprise environment, or building and managing an internal IT department may not be the right fit. The focus is on independent ownership, sound judgment, vendor accountability, and delivering outcomes without a team reporting directly to the role.
