Cost Accountant – Iowa City, Iowa

AM Consultant is hiring a full-time Cost Accountant in Iowa City, Iowa. In this on-site role, you will deliver accurate cost analysis and financial reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and management decisions. You will report to the Finance Manager and work with operations, procurement, and other teams in a collaborative finance environment focused on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze cost reports to inform management decisions.
• Support annual budgeting and monthly forecasting.
• Prepare documentation and analysis for financial audits.
• Help ensure compliance with accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Monitor project financial performance and identify opportunities to improve costs.
• Coordinate with departments on accurate cost allocation and compliance with financial policies.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures and standards for reliable financial reporting.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, and taxation.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP and with Microsoft Excel.
• At least 5 years of cost accounting experience.
• CMA or CPA certification is a plus.

Compensation and Opportunity
