OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Customs Declarant to prepare, process, and follow up on customs declarations for incoming and outgoing shipments. This role ensures that all import and export documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with applicable customs laws and regulations.
The ideal candidate has experience with customs clearance procedures, strong knowledge of import and export documentation, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, process, and submit customs declarations for import and export shipments
• Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, airway bills, certificates of origin, and other supporting documents
• Verify that customs documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable requirements.
• Determine and verify the correct customs classification, value, origin, duties, taxes, and other applicable charges.
• Coordinate customs clearance activities with customs authorities, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and international departments.
• Follow up on customs declarations, inspections, releases, and outstanding clearance matters.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in shipment and customs documentation.
• Request missing or corrected documentation from suppliers, forwarders, and other relevant parties.
• Maintain accurate, records, of customs declarations, permits, supporting documentation, and correspondence.
• Monitor changes in customs procedures and regulations and communicate relevant updates internally.
• Support timely release of shipments and help prevent unnecessary delays, storage charges, or penalties.
• Provide information and documentation required for customs audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Ensure confidentiality and the proper handling of company, supplier, and shipment information.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
