Data Center Technician/Systems Engineer

Tasks

• Install, rack, and stack servers, network devices, and hardware in data center cabinets.
• Perform copper (Cat5e/Cat6) and fiber optic cabling, routing, labeling, and troubleshooting.
• Support basic Cisco switch configuration and network connectivity troubleshooting.
• Maintain rack elevations, cabling diagrams, and floor layouts using Microsoft Visio.
• Assist with Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and cable management.
• Perform hardware replacements and troubleshoot physical layer issues.
• Follow data center safety standards, operational procedures, and change management processes.

Requirements

• Entry-Level
• Basic knowledge of Data Center Operations and Hardware Installation.
• Understanding of Copper and Fiber Optic Cabling.
• Knowledge of Cisco Networking Fundamentals (CLI, VLANs, Connectivity).
• Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Visio or similar documentation tools.
• Knowledge of Rack & Stack activities and Cable Management.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing approximately 40–50 lbs.
• Preferred: CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certification.
• Preferred: Exposure to DCIM tools and ticketing systems.
• Preferred: Understanding of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards.
