About the role

At Sheppard Pratt, you will perform food service assignments serving patients, staff, visitors, and guests. The role includes operating the coffee café in the hospital dining hall during scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the coffee café during scheduled hours.
• Determine and communicate order costs, operate the electronic cash register, and check and count money to ensure register and receipt accuracy.
• Prepare coffee beverages and related orders according to specific instructions.
• Prepare and set up the café food and service area, prepare food, maintain cleanliness of the area and equipment, and stock food and supplies.

Requirements

• Read, write, and speak English well enough to follow instructions, perform calculations, use an adding machine and POS system, handle money accurately, work effectively with staff and customers, and use direct reading devices where interpretation is not required.
• Three months of food service or cashier experience to gain cashier and money-handling skills, customer service expertise, portion control, short order food preparation, sanitation, and safe operation of café equipment.
