Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Freight Payables Associate to support our accounting operations by managing freight-related accounts payable activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex billing issues, working with vendors and internal stakeholders, and ensuring financial accuracy in a fast-paced environment.What You'll Do
Invoice & Payment ProcessingReview, validate, and process freight and transportation invoices accurately and efficiently.Ensure invoices are properly approved according to company policies and internal controls.Identify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies, overcharges, and payment issues.Enter invoices into the ERP system using the correct accounting codes.Schedule and process payments according to agreed vendor terms.Serve as the primary point of contact for freight vendors regarding invoice and payment inquiries.Vendor & Stakeholder ManagementBuild strong working relationships with freight carriers, logistics providers, and internal teams.Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, and Finance teams to resolve invoice and payment-related issues.Ensure timely communication and effective resolution of vendor concerns.Reporting & ReconciliationMaintain accurate documentation and records of freight expenses.Prepare and distribute freight expense reports for management visibility.Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring expenses are properly recorded and reconciled.Compliance & Continuous ImprovementEnsure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and US GAAP standards.Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and explanations as needed.Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency.
What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field OR 1-3 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Billing, Accounting Operations, or a similar role.Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and invoice processing.Strong Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Professional English communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Epicor, or similar).Experience in freight, transportation, logistics, or supply chain environments.Exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support activities.Familiarity with US GAAP standards.

Compensation & Schedule
💰 Salary: $1,700 - $1,800 USD/month 🕘 Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Time (flexibility available for different time zones)
