General Building Maintenance Worker

Tasks

• Complete routine maintenance work throughout residential properties.
• Inspect common areas, apartments, equipment, and building components for issues.
• Diagnose basic maintenance problems and complete appropriate minor repairs.
• Assist with plumbing, fixtures, doors, locks, drywall, painting, and other general building repairs.
• Monitor building conditions and report larger or specialized repair needs.
• Respond to tenant maintenance requests and follow up until issues are resolved.
• Prepare units for new residents when maintenance or repairs are required.
• Support preventive maintenance programs and scheduled inspections.
• Meet contractors and service technicians on site and provide access when required.
• Check common areas regularly and address safety or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain basic records of repairs, inspections, and completed work.
• Keep maintenance supplies, tools, and work areas organized.
• Assist management with urgent building matters when required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in building maintenance, residential properties, construction, or a similar environment is preferred.
• Comfortable performing a variety of basic repair and maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with common hand and power tools.
• Good judgment and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
• Reliable and able to work independently.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Physically able to perform maintenance-related duties.
• A valid driver’s licence is an asset.
