Groundskeeper Maintenance Worker in Nashville, TN

TN School Blind is hiring a full-time Groundskeeper Maintenance Worker in Nashville, Tennessee. This on-site role supports the care, upkeep, and maintenance of campus grounds, landscapes, and facilities. Pay is $17 per hour.

Role Overview

Under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor, you will perform semi-skilled groundskeeping and facility maintenance work. Duties include operating gasoline-powered and electric equipment, using hand and power tools, and maintaining groundskeeping tools and equipment. Work is subject to regular inspection and review.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns and trim grass around walkways, flower beds, and walls.
• Prune shrubs and trees; remove damaged leaves, branches, and twigs.
• Plant, fertilize, and water grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; apply herbicides and insecticides as needed.
• Lay out and maintain flower beds and decorative landscaping.
• Collect and dispose of outdoor trash, pick up litter, rake, and remove leaves.
• Maintain hard surfaces, storm drains, driveways, parking lots, and other grounds features.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways and driveways, and spread salt when needed.
• Repair fences, gates, walls, irrigation systems, walkways, and outbuildings using appropriate tools and materials.
• Change light bulbs, pressure-wash surfaces, and paint walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment.
• Complete minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
• Deliver supplies, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools.

Qualifications and Work Environment

This position involves outdoor grounds maintenance and facility upkeep on a school campus. Candidates should be prepared to use powered groundskeeping equipment, vehicles, hand tools, and maintenance equipment safely. The role is full time and not remote.
