Job description
Wealing Brothers is a family-owned and operated business with more than 40 years in business. Located in a rural area between Fowler and Remington, Indiana, we are hiring a full-time heavy truck and equipment mechanic to maintain a varied fleet and equipment lineup.
About the role
Work on a wide range of heavy trucks, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment in a heated 20,000-square-foot shop with a service pit. Company-provided tools are available, and we will obtain specialized tools needed for our equipment. Most work takes place in the shop, with occasional travel to job sites in Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan using a company service truck.
Equipment you may work on
- Kenworth semi-trucks, tankers, dump trailers, and roll-off trucks
- Terra Gator and Oxbo machines
- Farm equipment, tractors, and tillage equipment
- Pumps, excavators, dozers, skid steers, and Ford pickups
Responsibilities and qualifications
- Repair and maintain trucks, machinery, and other fleet equipment.
- Weld, use a cutting torch, and perform minor fabrication.
- Remove and replace transmissions, rear ends, engines, and hydraulic pumps; change tires as needed.
- Bring sound troubleshooting skills, mechanical versatility, and the ability to approach challenges in different ways.
- Have a valid driver's license.
Engine, transmission, and rear-end rebuilds are sent to outside specialists; they are not performed in-house.
Schedule and benefits
- Full-time schedule, typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Some overtime and a few Saturdays may be required during the busy spring and fall seasons.
- One week of paid vacation after one year of employment.
