Human Resource Generalist HRG

IFCCSM is seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Human Resource Generalist (HRG) to support our growing team.

This role is key to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace that reflects Indigenous values and upholds human rights principles. Working closely with leadership, the HRG will support all areas of human resources, including recruitment, culturally-based programming, employee relations, training, policy development, health and safety, and benefits administration. The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening positive workplace culture, supporting staff, and advancing equity and reconciliation within the organization.

Human Resources Services and Administration
• Provide HR services and support aligned with Indigenous values and organizational frameworks
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with privacy legislation
• Support HR communications, employee engagement, and workplace culture initiatives
• Collaborate across programs to ensure consistent and inclusive practices
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings

Recruitment, Onboarding and Workforce Development
• Lead inclusive and equitable recruitment and onboarding processes that prioritize Indigenous employment
• Support staff training, cultural and professional development, and capacity-building initiatives
• Promote access to learning and training opportunities

Employee Relations, Equity and Organizational Culture
• Support employee relations using culturally safe, trauma-informed, and restorative approaches
• Promote equity and inclusion aligned with the Ontario Human Rights Commission
• Foster a respectful, supportive, and culturally responsive workplace

Policy Development, Compliance and Governance
• Develop and implement HR policies aligned with the Employment Standards Act, ON Human Rights Commission and other applicable legislation
• Ensure policies reflect culturally grounded approaches and organizational values
• Maintain compliance with legislative and funder requirements
• All new policies and significant policy revisions shall be reviewed with the Executive Director before implementation.

Workplace Wellness, Safety and Cultural Integration
• Work in collaboration with the Health & Safety Committee to maintain workplace safety standards and foster wellness
• Promote *wholistic employee well-being (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual)
• Integrate Indigenous knowledge systems, including land-based practices and community accountability, into HR practices
• Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural integrity in HR approaches
