Information Security Manager 2

About the role

provide strategic leadership across information security, cybersecurity governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

shape enterprise security policies, lead risk assessments, oversee remediation, and advise agency leadership on security strategy.

Requirements

• 6+ years of information security, cybersecurity, or IT experience
• 7+ years working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
• 4+ years developing and implementing security policies, standards, controls, risk management, or compliance programs
• 4+ years leading security initiatives, projects, or cross-functional teams
• 4+ years conducting security risk assessments, audits, compliance reviews, and remediation
• Strong knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, and applicable security frameworks
• Experience with Texas and federal compliance requirements, including Texas Administrative Code Chapter 202, DIR, Cyber Command Security requirements, TX-RAMP, FedRAMP, and SOC 2
• Ability to present security recommendations and risk findings to management
• Strong independent judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• 5+ years supporting state government agencies (preferred)
• 3+ years coordinating vendor-provided support (preferred)
• 3+ years as an Information Security Officer or in an equivalent security leadership role (preferred)
