Junior MS Excel Analyst

About the role

Support climate risk research and regulatory initiatives for the New York State Department of Financial Services.

Tasks

• Analyze, clean, and organize large datasets (100K–1M+ rows).
• Use advanced MS Excel functions for data manipulation and analysis.
• Conduct research on climate-related risks and financial-sector impacts.
• Work with statistical tools such as Python/Pandas, R, or Stata.
• Prepare research summaries, briefing memos, and reports using MS Office.
• Track projects, monitor progress, and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Support regulatory research, policy development, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data analysis, research, reporting, or data management.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience handling large datasets and publicly available data.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Experience in project tracking and stakeholder coordination.
• Preferred: Experience in financial services, climate risk analysis, regulatory research, or statistical tools such as Python/Pandas, R, or Stata.
