Lead COBOL Programmer – Columbia, SC

Ram is hiring a Lead COBOL Programmer for a contract position in Columbia, South Carolina. This on-site role is suited to an experienced COBOL professional who can lead technical teams and develop, maintain, and support complex, mission-critical business applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical software development teams in planning and deploying software systems.
• Perform system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop and maintain complex COBOL business applications in a Windows-based client-server environment.
• Develop and test COBOL applications that use Oracle SQL databases.
• Provide Level 3 production support for mission-critical applications.
• Work directly with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications.
• Manage complex technical assignments independently and communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders.

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of overall COBOL and software development experience.
• 10+ years of Visual COBOL V9 or higher architecture and programming experience.
• 10+ years of experience in system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and system implementation.
• 10+ years developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based client-server environment.
• 10+ years leading technical software development teams in planning and deploying software systems.
• 10+ years developing and testing complex COBOL business applications using Oracle SQL databases.
• 10+ years of Level 3 production support experience.
• 10+ years working directly with business units on business and technical specifications.
• Strong independent problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
