Lead Mainframe Engineer

About the role

Supporting a critical Mainframe System of Record application for a Safe Deposit Box Modernization team.

Tasks

• Lead complex mainframe technology initiatives
• Design, develop, test, debug, and document solutions
• Support modernization of legacy applications
• Analyze COBOL/JCL code, dependencies, and business logic
• Work with enterprise systems, middleware, and frontend channels
• Perform production research, troubleshooting, and validation
• Mentor team members and collaborate with architecture/product teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of IBM z/OS Mainframe experience
• Strong hands-on COBOL amp; JCL
• CICS amp; VSAM
• DB2 or IMS
• IBM MQ / Kafka / APIs
• Production support amp; troubleshooting
• Batch processing, job scheduling amp; abend resolution
• SDLC amp; Agile delivery
• Mainframe application modernization / migration
• Experience with GenAI / AI-assisted engineering tools is a plus
• Strong technical leadership and communication skills
