Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – Next Generation Products

About the role

The Next Generation Products (NGP) organization at GE Aerospace designs, analyzes, integrates, and supports future military engine products. The Lead Design Engineer owns the design, development, and qualification of advanced military products, specifically hot structural components. The role includes technical design tasks, hardware cost, weight, and schedule deliverables, and collaboration with internal and external engineering disciplines. The position reports to an engineering manager in Evendale, OH.

Teams in the Next Generation Products space develop breakthrough technologies for military propulsion and support military customers.

Responsibilities

• Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned components for advanced military products.
• Adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements.
• Use mechanical design experience and broaden knowledge of the technical discipline to meet product deliverables within schedule and budget constraints.
• Understand how the team's work integrates with others to achieve product requirements.
• Make decisions within a defined requirements framework and resolve design challenges using technical knowledge and judgment.
• Review designs and consult with senior technical leaders for evaluation of work.
• Support hardware analysis, testing, certification and qualification technical publications, and manufacturing.
• Develop internal and external customer relationships and serve as an interface point within GE.

Requirements

• Mechanical design experience.
