Marine Dispatcher Fleet Terminal

About the role

Sflgroup is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Marine Dispatcher to join its fleet terminal operations team. The role coordinates barge and vessel movements, communicates with towboats and facility personnel, and supports safe and efficient fleet operations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule barge movements in and out of the fleet terminal.
• Dispatch towboats and communicate movement instructions to vessel crews.
• Maintain accurate records of barge locations, fleet inventory, and vessel activity.
• Communicate with terminal staff, dock operations, and customers to support timely and efficient barge handling.
• Monitor and update scheduling software, logs, and daily reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet activity during assigned shifts.
• Assist in planning and adjusting fleet operations for weather, traffic, or customer needs.

Requirements

• Previous dispatching, logistics, or marine operations experience is preferred; fleet or barge industry experience is strongly desired.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency with computers and scheduling or logistics software.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work a rotating 4 days on / 4 days off schedule with day and night shifts.
• TWIC Card required.
• Ability to work in an office environment with frequent phone and radio communication, adapt to extended shifts and rotating schedules, and occasionally work in outdoor marine environments when coordinating directly with operations staff.
