Materials Manager Structural Steel Dallas

About the role

Novax Recruitment Group is seeking a Materials Manager for a busy structural steel fabrication business. The role links purchasing, production, detailing, receiving, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Purchase structural steel, hardware, and miscellaneous materials.
• Manage inventory levels and allocate materials across multiple active projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Detailing, Production, and Receiving teams.
• Use Tekla PowerFab or a similar ERP system to manage purchasing, inventory, receiving, and production tracking.
• Combine material requirements across projects to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Monitor deliveries, resolve shortages, and ensure materials are available to keep production on schedule.
• Verify materials on the shop floor, solve problems, and support operations.

Requirements

• Experience purchasing structural steel or construction materials.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management and materials planning.
• Experience using Tekla PowerFab or a similar ERP/MRP system is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and taking ownership of issues.
• Experience working closely with production, fabrication, or manufacturing teams.
• Knowledge of structural steel grades, purchasing strategies, and vendor management is highly desirable.
• A team-first attitude and ambition to grow into a leadership role.
