Mechanical Engineer Job in Orlando, FL at Wunderlich-Malec

Wunderlich-Malec is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Orlando, Florida team. This full-time role involves designing, developing, and implementing fully integrated mechanical assembly systems that comply with process requirements and safety codes. Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement mechanical assembly systems meeting process and code requirements. Perform hazard analysis and develop mitigation strategies. Optimize system reliability by reducing Class 1 parts and single points of failure. Prepare comprehensive system documentation including theory of operation, design descriptions, test plans, and maintenance procedures. Create detailed mechanical design and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Conduct stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, and tolerance analyses. Apply amusement ride safety standards related to guest accelerations, reach envelope, ingress/egress, weight, and emergency evacuation. Assist with system start-up, debugging, and documentation development. Lead projects technically and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and contractors. Manage smaller projects ($50K–$250K) including planning, resource allocation, scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor oversight. Propose and manage change orders effectively. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: Minimum 5 years in mechanical systems design, stress analysis, acceleration forces, and ASTM amusement ride safety standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks software. Knowledge of contract documents, field data collection, and system design functions. Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications. Physical Demands Good visual acuity, color perception, hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. Ability to drive, lift, climb, mount/dismount equipment, push, and pull as required. This position is based in Orlando, Florida, and is not eligible for remote work. Salary: $101,000 per year.
