Job description
LanguagesCX is hiring a full-time Medical Interpreter (Spanish to English) for remote operations serving patients and healthcare providers in Lima, Lima Province, Peru. In this role, you will help ensure language differences do not prevent Spanish-speaking patients from accessing clear, quality healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret accurately between Spanish and English, supporting clear communication between patients and healthcare professionals.
- Provide remote interpretation through video remote interpreting (VRI) and over-the-phone interpretation (OPI).
- Assist with medical document and patient education material translation while protecting confidential information and following applicable HIPAA requirements.
- Manage multiple cases and prioritize interpretation requests in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Build rapport and trust through culturally sensitive, empathetic communication.
- Maintain accurate interaction records and provide follow-up documentation as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training to strengthen interpretation skills and stay current with medical terminology and practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated medical interpretation expertise and strong Spanish–English bilingual proficiency.
- Experience with simultaneous interpretation and translation in a medical setting.
- Excellent verbal communication, customer service, and attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple requests.
- Cultural competence, empathy, and commitment to confidentiality.
