Payroll Accountant

MPORTANT: This is a initial 3-month contract with potential extension based on business needs.
Primary ObjectiveProvide immediate operational support to stabilize the Payroll Accounting function while reducing key-person dependency and supporting knowledge transfer across the team. Required Experience5+ years of Accounting or Payroll Accounting experience.Strong General Ledger and month-end close experience.Payroll Accounting experience supporting U.S. and/or Canadian payroll.Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.Experience working with payroll funding, payroll taxes and gross-to-net accounting.Strong understanding of internal controls and audit requirements.Advanced Excel skills.Experience with SAP (or similar ERP).Experience with Workday Payroll. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review payroll journal entries.Perform payroll account reconciliations.Support payroll funding activities.Assist with payroll tax accounting.Support internal and external audit requests.Partner with Finance and Payroll teams to resolve accounting issues.Document key processes and support knowledge transfer.Provide backup coverage for critical payroll accounting activities.Identify opportunities to improve operational controls and standardize processes.
