Job description
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: Houston, TX 77094
Job Type: 3 Months Contract
Schedule: 3pm – 11:30pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the pharmacist in medication preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery for patients aged 0 to adult.
- Manage controlled substances by assisting in procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution.
- Ensure accuracy of medication doses by correctly entering patient diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the computer system.
- Adhere to aseptic technique and infection control protocols in sterile product preparation; complete annual recertification with a minimum 90% score.
- Verify medication accuracy as confirmed by the pharmacist and maintain error-free dispensing records.
- Demonstrate competence in batch, medication, and prescription order entry.
- Coordinate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain adequate medication and supply stock, following stock replacement and nonformulary procedures.
- Obtain pharmacist initial and final checks; assign dilution and expiration labels per department standards.
Qualifications:
- Registered Pharmacy Technician certification required.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work the scheduled evening shift.
