Role Description The Principal Civil/Structural Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. This role is responsible for leading civil and structural engineering design for industrial facilities, including evaluating project requirements, developing design concepts, and performing detailed structural analysis and calculations. The Principal Engineer will review and approve engineering deliverables, oversee the preparation of drawings and models using CAD tools, and ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. Daily activities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, participating in design reviews, and providing technical guidance throughout Basic Engineering and FEED phases. The role also involves supporting project planning, contributing to safety and risk assessments, and engaging with clients to clarify technical issues and optimize design solutions.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with experience in industrial projects.Proficiency in Structural Analysis and engineering calculations for steel, concrete, and foundation systems.Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for structural and civil layouts and detailing.Ability to lead and review design packages across conceptual, Basic Engineering, and FEED stages.Knowledge of relevant international and local codes, standards, and best practices in civil/structural engineering.Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Experience in Refining, Energy, Petrochemicals, Food, Pharma, or Agrichemicals sectors is an advantage.
