Design and detail custom lighting, hardware, and architectural metalwork for high-end residential projects as a Product Design Engineer in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. This on-site role combines CAD design, product detailing, and practical problem-solving to help turn client concepts into buildable work for skilled craftspeople.

About the role

Create 2D and 3D models, shop drawings, and technical documents for customer approvals and shop production. Work across varied design-build and plan/spec projects, adapting designs as project needs evolve. You may work full time or, by arrangement, part time for 25–30 hours per week. Benefits are available for schedules of 35 hours or more. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise CAD models, assemblies, shop drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
• Develop design documents, drafting approaches, and production details for custom projects.
• Research and check drawings and designs for accuracy and adequacy.
• Detail mechanical parts and prepare drawings for outside suppliers and vendors.
• Interpret sketches and specifications from clients, architects, designers, engineers, and internal teams.
• Communicate with architects and engineers to coordinate technical requirements.
• Calculate material dimensions, requirements, and limitations.
• Coordinate with colleagues on technical support and help establish production methods as needed.
• Support documentation and development of new and existing products.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD design, product design, and technical detailing.
• Ability to create and update 2D and 3D models and clear production drawings.
• Practical understanding of how custom products and metalwork can be built.

Schedule and location

Located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The typical workday is eight hours, with reasonable schedule flexibility once trained. Some employees choose to work nine-hour days and a half-day Friday. A part-time schedule of 25–30 hours per week may be considered.
