Quality Engineer

About the RoleWhat we are looking for:A Senior Quality Engineer who is a senior software engineer in test who helps the whole engineering organization ship higher-quality software. You build the testing frameworks, tooling, and fast, reliable test feedback that engineers rely on, and you work across our Elixir, TypeScript, and Python codebases to get good testing practices adopted.
This is an enablement role, not a gatekeeping one. You won't test everything yourself; you'll design the systems, set the patterns, and coach the practices that let engineers own quality with confidence. Success looks like teams that ship reliably and independently because the tools and workflows you've built make the right approach the straightforward one.
You'll work hands-on as an engineer — composing testing solutions from in-house and third-party frameworks, hardening CI/CD quality gates, writing production-quality code, and documenting the patterns and playbooks others rely on — while partnering with our Quality Engineering Lead to execute and evolve our automated testing strategy. You'll participate in engineering reviews focused on testability, reliability, observability, and maintainability, and mature our test automation in line with current industry practice.
AI and agentic coding are core to how we work — we use them across framework development, test debugging, and test authoring — and you'll be expected to work this way.You might be a good fit if:
You have 5+ years in software engineering, with significant time as a Software Engineer in Test or Quality Engineer building systems that improve product quality.You have strong software engineering fundamentals and write production-quality code in at least one of Python, TypeScript, or Elixir.You've designed and implemented automated testing across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end layers, composing solutions from both in-house and third-party frameworks.You've built test automation frameworks, test harnesses, or CI/CD tooling that other engineers depend on.You use AI and agentic coding tools as part of your day-to-day engineering.You have strong influencing and communication skills: you move engineers toward better practices through evidence and credibility rather than mandate.You approach quality through a developer-experience lens and have the judgment to know where automation pays off and where it doesn't.You understand quality as an engineering discipline and prefer enabling teams to own it over centralizing testing.You operate well with autonomy in an early-stage startup environment.You have an interest in AI governance and responsible AI.Expectations:Partner with the Quality Engineering Lead to execute and evolve Credo AI's automated testing and quality engineering strategy.Compose, build, and maintain the testing frameworks, tooling, libraries, and supporting documentation that make high-quality software the default.Use AI and agentic coding tools to extend our testing framework, debug tests, and build AI-enabled workflows for test authoring.Advance automated testing maturity across our Elixir, TypeScript, and Python codebases, keeping our practices current with industry standards.Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and quality gates so engineering teams get fast, actionable feedback.Improve the developer experience around testing so that quality is easier to build in than to skip.Influence and coach engineers on testing strategy and effective use of frameworks and tooling, building shared ownership of quality.Participate in engineering reviews focused on testability, reliability, observability, and maintainability.Define and track quality metrics — automation coverage, test reliability, release confidence, and defect escape rates — and use them to prioritize the highest-impact work.
