Remote Prior Authorization Specialist – United States

Summit Medical Staffing is seeking a full-time Remote Prior Authorization Specialist to support patient access to medically necessary services. This position is remote and open to candidates located anywhere in the United States. You will review authorization requests, coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies, and maintain accurate records while supporting efficient, compliant healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify prior authorization requests for medical services and procedures.
• Contact healthcare providers and insurance companies to obtain required documentation.
• Maintain accurate, organized records of authorization requests and outcomes.
• Apply medical terminology when interpreting clinical information and supporting authorization decisions.
• Follow applicable healthcare regulations, policies, and authorization procedures.
• Independently manage a high volume of requests while meeting quality standards.
• Use insurance verification and tracking software to manage authorization processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with insurance verification.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a structured team environment.

Team and Reporting

Work with colleagues across departments to support continuity of care and adherence to established protocols. This role reports to the lead authorization supervisor, who provides guidance and support.
