Casa Cayuco Eco-Adventure Lodge - Bocas del Toro, PanamaCasa Cayuco is an award-winning, boutique, off-grid eco-resort located on Isla Bastimentos in Bocas del Toro. We were recently named the #1 Family-Friendly Hotel in the World by Tripadvisor and are completing an exciting expansion featuring new beachfront bungalows.
As we enter this next stage of growth, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant General Manager to join our team.
The Assistant General Manager will be one of two senior operational leaders at Casa Cayuco, working closely with Ownership to oversee daily lodge operations and broader business functions, including reservations, sales, financial controls, property projects, and business development. The successful candidate must be capable of independently running the lodge whenever the General Manager is off-site.
Key ResponsibilitiesHelp lead a team of 45+ employees across Guest Services, Activities, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance, Spa, Transportation, and other departments.Oversee staffing, guest arrivals and departures, excursions, meals, transportation, and daily property logistics.Assume responsibility for the lodge when the General Manager is unavailable.Welcome guests, oversee the guest experience, and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.Support recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management, and employee development.Support sales efforts and develop relationships with travel agents, tourism partners, groups, and other potential clients.Assist with budgeting, payroll, purchasing, inventory, expense control, reporting, and revenue management.Monitor service standards, property conditions, maintenance needs, and operating procedures.Help manage property improvements, contractors, purchasing, and project timelines.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, enhance the guest experience, and grow revenue.Support Casa Cayuco’s community partnerships and projects in neighboring community.Ensure compliance with applicable safety, employment, environmental, and hospitality requirements.
RequirementsAt least five years of progressive hospitality management experience.Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Hotel Manager, Operations Manager, Department Head, or similar senior leader.Proven ability to manage a hotel, resort, lodge, restaurant, or comparable hospitality operation.Experience leading multiple departments and a large team.Strong leadership, communication, organization, financial management, and problem-solving skills.Professional fluency in English and Spanish.Legal authorization to work in Panama.Willingness to live on-site at a remote, boat-access-only property.
Experience in boutique hotels, luxury hospitality, eco-lodges, sales, project management, or remote operations is highly valued.
