Senior Accountant

Quick Overview: Are you a seasoned, hands-on accounting professional with a deep background in the manufacturing sector? We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Accountant in Chicago, Illinois, to manage our full-cycle accounting process end-to-end. Reporting directly to the CFO in a lean department (fewer than 3 staff members), this is a fully onsite role where you will personally execute everything from general ledger maintenance to financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Full-Cycle Accounting: Personally execute the accounting process end-to-end; this is a hands-on role, not a supervisory position. Financial Reporting & Close: Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, preparing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ledger & Reconciliation: Complete all general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and account variance analyses. AP/AR Processing: Efficiently manage transactional workflows, including a 3-way match process for accounts payable, weekly check runs, cash receipts, and credit card reconciliations. Budgeting & Audit Prep: Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and compiling comprehensive documentation for internal/external audits. Required Qualifications Experience & Tenure: 5–10 years of consistent accounting experience. Must demonstrate job stability with at least 3 to 5+ years of continuous service at a single employer. Industry Background: Must have worked predominantly within Manufacturing companies. Candidates with profiles primarily featuring Public, Non-profit, or Service industries will not be considered. Company Dynamics: Proven experience working inside small-to-midsize business environments (under $25–30M in revenue) and within highly lean accounting teams. Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with ERP systems and accounting software. Direct experience with MAS 90 or SAGE 100 is highly preferred. Location & Logistics: Must live within a 45-minute commute of Chicago, IL 60632. This position is 100% on-site (no remote or hybrid options available). Nice-to-Haves Experience generating and customizing financial reports using Crystal Reports.
