Our client, a governmental consulting and accounting services firm based in Puerto Rico, is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Senior Consultant to join their team.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant / Senior Consultant executes intermediate to advanced accounting and consulting tasks on assigned projects, under the supervision of a Manager. This role combines strong technical knowledge with sufficient autonomy to drive project progress, guide Staff-level personnel, and communicate directly with client operations. This is the core technical execution role in the day-to-day delivery of client engagements.
Responsibilities
Execute accounting analyses, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and other project deliverablesGuide and review the work of Staff assigned to the same projectMaintain accurate daily time records by task or project and submit invoices according to the firm's billing scheduleIdentify and communicate to the Manager any unusual situations, errors, or project risksInterpret and apply governmental accounting standards (GASB, CAFR, etc.) in the execution of workPrepare memos, analyses, and technical documents required by the client or the teamAttend client meetings when authorized or required by the ManagerKeep project files organized and up to date (digital and/or physical)Support the Manager in the preparation of status reportsComply with on-site work schedule at client facilities as required by contract
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related fieldActive CPA license - PreferredMinimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or governmental financeAdvanced proficiency in Excel and Word; familiarity with governmental accounting systemsAbility to work independently on assigned tasks and manage own time effectivelyStrong professional communication skills with client personnel at operational and technical levelsPrior experience in public accounting firms or governmental agencies
