Senior Java Developer (Contract) – Chicago, IL

Radiant is hiring a Senior Java Developer for a contract position in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will build and improve software solutions in a fast-paced technology environment, collaborating with engineering and product teams to support business and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop scalable Java applications using Spring, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Design, implement, and maintain microservices architectures.
• Work with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to define project scope and requirements.
• Deploy and manage applications using cloud computing platforms.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to promote engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing applications for performance and user experience.
• Contribute to DevOps initiatives that improve development and deployment processes.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 12 or more years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience with Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, SQL, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.

Team and Reporting

You will report to the Lead Software Engineer and collaborate with product owners, quality assurance testers, and other team members. Radiant values collaboration and encourages every team member to contribute.
