Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Support a mission-critical Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure program in Washington, DC.

Tasks

• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco DMVPN (Phase 2/Phase 3), IPsec VPNs, GRE tunnels, and NHRP.
• Manage Metro Ethernet connectivity, WAN circuits, and redundant network architectures.
• Configure and support BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, VRFs, and QoS.
• Implement LTE/5G failover solutions and high-availability network designs.
• Support traffic signal controllers, CCTV/video surveillance, and IoT devices.
• Perform field installations, network cutovers, and end-to-end troubleshooting.
• Implement network security, segmentation, and encrypted communications.
• Develop network automation scripts using Python or Ansible.
• Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and configuration records.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant networking experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Active CCNA certification.
• Strong experience with Cisco DMVPN, WAN, VPN, and routing protocols.
• Experience with LTE/5G failover and high-availability network design.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, single-mode fiber, and SFP/SFP+ transceivers.
• Experience with ITS, traffic management, CCTV, or transportation infrastructure.
• Familiarity with IoT security, network automation, and technical documentation.
• Prior experience working with a state or municipal Department of Transportation is highly desirable.
• Preferred Certifications: CCIE Enterprise Infrastruc
