Position Overview:The Senior Regional Accountant – LATAM is responsible for coordinating accounting and treasury activities across the LATAM region, ensuring accurate financial information, effective internal controls, and compliance with fiscal and regulatory requirements in each country where the company operates.
This role combines regional accounting responsibilities with hands-on involvement in financial reporting, treasury management, accounting processes, tax compliance, and operational financial analysis. The ideal candidate is a senior accounting professional with experience in multinational or regional environments, capable of managing priorities across different countries while ensuring timely and reliable financial information for local and U.S. leadership teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:Coordinate and provide guidance to accounting team members across LATAM.Lead accounting processes and ensure team alignment with company objectives.Coordinate accounting and treasury operations across LATAM.Support annual performance reviews for accounting department members.Provide guidance and support to accounting team members.Ensure accurate and timely execution of the complete accounting cycle, including monthly and annual closing activities.Maintain and improve accounting processes to comply with corporate policies and local regulatory requirements.Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and management reports.Perform general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial adjustments.Review invoice coding and expense allocations based on financial reports and operational requirements.Prepare monthly LATAM financial results and Financial Statistics reports.Prepare and update financial reports through Jet Reports for local and U.S. management reporting.Ensure compliance with tax obligations, statutory requirements, and regulatory filings across LATAM countries.Support and coordinate annual tax declarations, municipal filings, operating permits, and other government requirements.Prepare annual financial statements and coordinate with external auditors in different countries.Support external and internal audit processes by providing financial documentation and analysis.Manage LATAM treasury activities, including cash flow planning and ensuring availability of funds according to business needs and projects.Review and approve regional payments while maintaining proper financial controls.Maintain and update corporate credit card limits according to operational needs.Coordinate financial documentation, funding requirements, and insurance processes related to vehicle purchases and leasing activities.Maintain updated insurance documentation and compliance records.Support the preparation and monitoring of annual LATAM budgets.Perform vertical and horizontal analysis of income statements to identify unusual trends, variances, and financial opportunities.Maintain departmental KPIs and operational indicators, including logistics and delivery cost analysis.Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen accounting controls and reporting processes.
Requirements:Minimum Requirements:Advanced English level.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis, or related field.Active professional accounting license (CPA/CPI or equivalent).5+ years of experience in general accounting.Experience managing or coordinating accounting processes, including the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.Experience with financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance processes.Experience working with external and/or internal auditors.Knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and tax compliance requirements.Experience with ERP financial systems (Microsoft Business Central, SAP, Oracle, or similar).Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.Intermediate to advanced English level.Ability to work onsite/hybrid according to the assigned location requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting regional LATAM accounting operations across multiple countries (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, or similar markets).Experience in multinational, corporate, logistics, transportation, shipping, distribution, or international trade companies.Experience with import/export processes, freight costs, customs, terminals, and operational costing.Experience managing treasury activities, cash flow planning, payment approvals, and corporate financial controls.Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements and tax filings in multiple countries.Knowledge of IFRS/NIC standards, taxation, and audit practices.Experience with Microsoft Business Central (BC) and Jet Reports.Experience working with regional teams and multicultural environments.Experience supporting budgeting processes, financial analysis, and KPI reporting.
