Senior Software Engineer - Remote - United States

About the Role Koda North is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and enhance reliable software systems for clients across the United States. This full-time remote position requires an experienced developer to take ownership of complex backend services, APIs, databases, integrations, and production applications. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with modern web applications, and practical backend expertise in Python and Java. You will make critical technical decisions, improve existing systems, and guide projects from requirements through release and maintenance. What You Will Do Own design, development, and delivery of complex software features and systems Architect and build reliable backend services, APIs, data models, and integrations Develop and maintain production web applications across backend and frontend layers Make practical technical decisions regarding scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability Translate business requirements into clear technical plans and production-ready solutions Improve existing systems through refactoring, performance tuning, and architectural cleanup Review code, guide implementation quality, and elevate engineering standards Debug complex issues across application code, APIs, databases, infrastructure, and production logs Collaborate with product, design, engineering, and client-facing teams to define realistic delivery plans Support production releases, incident resolution, monitoring, and continuous system improvement Document key technical decisions, system behavior, and implementation details Identify technical risks early and recommend thoughtful, business-aware solutions Compensation and Benefits The position offers a competitive salary of $110,000 per year with remote work flexibility across the United States.
